Everyone knows the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, and Notre Dame but, as of this month, a new icon will join the ranks of Paris’ most notable landmarks. The Cheval Blanc Paris is a new hotel created by LVMH Hospitality in conjunction with its majestic, 16-year renovation of the historic La Samaritaine department store. The hotel itself is set to be a treasure trove of wonders, with its plush rooms and postcard-like views of the Seine, but perhaps its most notable feature is the new Dior Spa.
With interiors by Peter Marino, the Dior Spa is designed to recreate the comfort of a Parisian apartment, with a cosy sitting room that includes a fireplace, a selection of reading material, and a tea service. Guests are invited to relax here before or after visiting one of the spa’s six treatment suites.
The suites
Each of the remarkable suites is inspired by a different moment of Dior’s history and offers its own unique selection of treatment options.
These include the ‘New Look’ suite, which has a structured décor, inspired by the avant-garde look created by Christian Dior in 1947, and features a customised bed that allows for a six-handed treatment of body, face and hair, simultaneously. The ‘Bonne Étoile’ suite, meanwhile, pays tribute to Christian Dior’s lucky star with a magical starry ceiling in which to lose yourself during a treatment.
The treatments
Dior has long worked at the cutting-edge of skincare (as we discovered when we visited LVMH’s top secret cosmetics centre last year) and the treatments on offer at Cheval Blanc reflect the brand’s penchant for blending innovative technology with some good, old-fashioned decadence.
The Dior Sapphire Crystal Micro-Abrasion, for example, uses an oscillating tool covered in fine sapphire particles to gently exfoliate away dead skin and encourage cellular regeneration.
Treatments aside, guests can also enjoy a swim in the Seine-level, mosaic-filled swimming pool, or get a blow-dry at the nearby Leonor Greyl salon.
