Elza Wandler is known for her love of detail – when she extended the reach of her eponymous handbag brand into footwear in 2019, she took up to three days to select the correct colour of leather for her designs. Now, the designer has brought that same level of fastidiousness to her latest category launch: a ready-to-wear offering of elegant denim and leather, accented with intricate leather loops, square pockets and hardware buttons.
‘I think it was just a matter of time before Wandler transitioned into this new territory,' Wandler says of the intuitive impulse behind the new collection, which features a host of leather and jean styles in richly hued and two tone colour ways, across a range of fits, from boyfriend to straight cropped.
‘The leather options are offered in black and white as well as a forest green and mustard. The colour palette for our denim styles ranges from classic black and ecru to several different denim shades, including bleached, raw, and dark stone wash,' she adds of the diverse offering.
Wandler: from architectural accessories to enduring denim
In an era when our wardrobe pieces need to work harder than ever, spanning diverse occasions and wielding staying power, Wandler’s pieces have punch. ‘They are great styling pieces that can easily be dressed up for different occasions from work to dinner,’ she says. This is made even simpler thanks to items such as a 1990s-centric mule in zesty apple green, a chunky chain-detail shoulder bag, and a chic slipper.
The pieces also align with the brand's sleek and sculptural approach to design, which celebrates an optimistic colour palette. ‘The design direction remains the same, featuring architectural shapes with a dynamic use of colour while balancing minimalism with extravagance.’
