Canyon Ranch, the US-based spa resort much loved by American socialites of a certain generation and Hollywood stars, has landed in Turkey’s Aegean coastline.
Cleaving close to the model of low environmental impact, the Spanish architecture firm OAB has delivered a sybaritic 141-room bolt-hole sheathed in stucco and recycled rock, and furnished in a soothing palette of cream, pine hues and white.
All the rooms face the inky-blue Aegean, though we daresay little or no time will be spent in them, not when there’s a 107,500 sq ft spa, fitness and health centre to explore. As expected, the spa menu is extensive, not least a languorous session in the herbal steam chamber while being slathered with locally sourced mud.
In the kitchen, executive chef Muhammed Hançabay pairs vanilla-scented salmon in vanilla with avocado relish and fava bean cream, and pan-roasted seabass fillet with a tangy lemon and thyme gnocchi.
