The journey of New York’s ever-evolving Hudson Yards development may seem never-ending, but one gem in its midst is fully up and running.
Legacy Records is an 85-seat restaurant and café located within the residential building Henry Hall, designed by Ken Fulk. Spread over two floors of the former Legacy Recording Studios, the elegant restaurant is the brainchild of Delicious Hospitality Group and comes armed with a cocktail and wine bar, a walk-up café called Easy Victor and two private dining rooms equipped with their own open kitchens.
Situated next to the building’s lobby, the eatery evokes classic midcentury style with layers of teak, marble and brass with accents of white and green. Custom-designed features include patinated brass table-tops, fluted wood paneling that wraps around a central bar and a modern coffered ceiling inset with cane. Floor-to-ceiling windows fill the sophisticated space with natural light – all the better to appreciate the large contemporary art collection that adorns its walls and includes pieces by Mickalene Thomas, Martine Gutierrez and Mischa Richter.
On the second floor, guests can enjoy an extensive selection of wines and innovative cocktails at the bar or in the main lounge or wine room, all exquisitely furnished with channel-tufted banquettes, rich marble and polished brass finishes. Accompanied by a coastal-inspired menu of crudos, pasta and grilled whole fish, Legacy Records is a refreshing take on refinement that goes down a treat.
